Navy

Laser Visual Landing Aids (LVLA) provide accurate visual guidance for pilots approaching air capable ships at night. Night flight operations have long been the most demanding part of naval aviation. The Laser Centerline Localizer (LCL) and Laser Glideslope Indicator (LGI) provide line-up and glideslope information visually at ranges up to 15 nautical

miles. These systems have been proven effective in both flight test and operations over the last 10 years. The LCL and LGI provide a positive margin of safety for night carrier flight operations with a demonstrated overall availability of 99% and without the requirement for radio or radar emissions. The LCL and LGI are the solution for reliable EMCON aircraft recovery.

Laser Centerline Localizer

The laser centerline localizer or LCL provides long-range visual line-up information to approaching pilots. Initial operations with the LCL commenced in February of 1994 aboard the USS Constellation. During its first operational deployment the LCL

demonstrated its effectiveness by providing visual line-up guidance out to 15 miles with an operational reliability in excess of 99%.
