Laser Centerline Localizer model LCL-195

This LCL provides visible and NVG-compatible line-up signals to pilots on approach to landing in a portable, rapidly deployable configuration. To provide tactical flexibility, the LCL-195 has wide azimuthal coverage in seven distinct visible corridors of laser illumination. The LCL-195 exceeds its required range of 10 nmi at night, testing by the US Army confirmed a range of 17 nmi. Rapid set-up and alignment with the runway is accomplished in a few minutes with no special tools. The LCL-195 with its weather cover and three adjustable legs weighs 175 pounds (79 kg) and has a power requirement of 200 W. It has a separate radio controlled

power box that provides 11 hours of battery operation with recharging and continuous operation from 115 VAC. This Laser Centerline Localizer is a Class IIIb laser product and has irradiance that is below the Class II level at the exit apertures.

Laser Glideslope Indicator model LGI-195

This LCL provides visible and NVG-compatible glideslope signals to pilots on approach to landing in a portable, rapidly deployable configuration. The LGI-195 companion to the LCL-195 has 5 distinct visible corridors of laser illumination. The LCL-195 exceeds its required range of 10 nmi at night, with a confirmed range of 15 nmi, tested by the US Army. Rapid set-up and alignment with the runway is accomplished in a few minutes with no special tools. The LGI-195 with its weather cover and three adjustable legs weighs 118 pounds (54 kg) and has a power requirement of 100 W. It has a separate radio controlled power box that provides 22 hours of battery operation with recharging and continuous operation from 115 VAC. This Laser Glideslope Indicator is a Class IIIb laser product and has irradiance that is below the Class II level at the exit apertures.

Runway Edge Lights model EDLT-195

The runway edge lighting is the component of the LVLA-PALS for landing, roll-out, and taxi. The EDLT-195 runway edge light uses two different sources to provide yellow-colored visible and FLIR-compatible long wavelength infrared lights. The runway edge lights exceed the required range of 10 nmi at night, tested by the US Army. The edge light is remotely controlled with a hand-held remote controller or from aircraft through a repeater. It has a built-in rechargeable battery that provides over 24 hours of battery operation with recharging and continuous operation from AC power of 85 to 263 V at 47 to 63 Hz. The mode of operation of the edge light can be externally selected to be visible and NVG only, FLIR only, or all three modes simultaneously. The EDLT-195 runway edge light is 5 inches (13 cm) wide, 9 inches (23 cm) long, and varies from 3 to 7 inches (8 to 18 cm) high. It weighs 4.6 lbs (2.1 kg).

Trailer with Generators and Charging Cords model TGCC-195

The trailer is a multi-faceted component of the LVLA-PALS that, in addition to transport, is utilized for stowage, charging, deployment, and recovery of the 5,000-ft portable airfield lighting system. The trailer is based on a standard U.S. Army specification high mobility flat deck trailer that uses standard inventory HMMWV parts. All of the lighting equipment, power generators, charging cords, radio control equipment, and ancillary equipment such as stakes and tie-down straps are contained on this trailer. Each lighting component is recharged in place on the trailer from the generators, 115 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz, or from 28 VDC tactical vehicle power. Total weight of the LVLA-PALS trailer with all equipment onboard is 4100 lbs (1860 kg).

The Laser Glideslope Indicator is stored in a compartment in the rear of the trailer, on the top, middle shelf. The Laser Centerline Localizer is stored in a compartment in the rear of the trailer in the middle, on a shelf that is directlyCenterline Localizer and FLIR-

compatible in the rear of the trailer in the middle, on a shelf that is directly below that of the LGI. The FLIR-compatible Laser Laser Glideslope Indicator are stored in a compartment in the rear of the trailer on the top shelf to the sides of the LGI. The Power Boxes for the LCL and the LGI are located in compartments in the rear of the trailer, below the LCL. The Power Boxes for the FLCL and FLGI are located in compartments in front of the trailer wheels. Forty-eight Runway Edge Lights, and twelve Runway Threshold Lights are located in compartments accessible from the sides of the trailer. Two 2kW military tactical generators are located on the trailer between the reels and the compartments for the runway edge lights. Two reels with charging cables are located towards the front of the trailer. Each reel stores the charging cable for one side of the 5,000-ft runway.
